2013 Whatcom Hospice Pro-Am Golf Classic

2013 Tournament Chair Doug Wight (right) presents awards to the winning team,
Sound Beverage.

The 6th Annual Whatcom Hospice Pro-Am Golf Classic held August 22 and 23, 2013 raised nearly $150,000 for Whatcom Hospice! The winning team was Sound Beverage, and the winning pro was Matt Cowell.

On Thursday night, the public joined players and pros at the beautiful Hotel Bellwether Ballroom for a scrumptious dinner featuring Gourmet Steak Tacos and Mesquite Grilled Wild Salmon, prepared by the Hotel Bellwether chef. During the evening’s pro-auction, players bid to determine their team’s pairing with the tournament's golf pros.  Fun activities open to all attendees included a $5,000 Putting Contest and a Long  Drive/Chipping Contest into Bellingham Bay with floating golf balls!

On Friday morning, 26 teams hit the links at Lake Padden Golf Course for an enjoyable day of golf. The spectacular, tree-lined 18-hole championship course measures 6,675 yards and plays approximately 20% longer than the actual yardage. The traditional layout offers holes that are tucked away into the wooded rolling grounds that make players feel they are on their own personal course. The goal of the Whatcom Hospice Pro-Am Golf Classic is to raise funds for Hospice to assess medical needs, provide social and spiritual services, and offer comfort and support for patients and their families.

Huge thanks to tournament organizers Doug Wight, Jen VanderMeulen, Barry Kramer and Mel Fish! Also, thanks to everyone who participated or volunteered!
